Aboriginal Conference In Newcastle

The work of a local organisation in preserving indigenous languages will be discussed at a public hearing in Newcastle today.
The New South Wales State Library has been given new funds in order to further preserve the aboriginal languages beginning with reviewing the library's collection of early manuscripts of journals and letters.
The State Library in Australia's New South Wales is putting forth a new project to preserve forgotten or endangered Aboriginal languages.
A booklet of Aboriginal language was launched at the Barriekneal Community Language room on Monday. "Our Lingo" is a book of words from the Yuwaalaraay and Yuwaalayaay and Gamilaraay Tribes.
