A booklet of Aboriginal language was launched at the Barriekneal Community Language room on Monday.

"Our Lingo" is a book of words from the Yuwaalaraay and Yuwaalayaay and Gamilaraay Tribes.

The book was collated by Barriekneal Aboriginal Language Workers Digby Skuthorpe and Kelly Mahoney with input from 80 different families.

Aunty June and Uncle Roy Barker were thanked by Kelly Mahoney for their knowledge, support and help with the book.

"They helped with the pronunciations and meanings of words, their knowledge and wisdom was invaluable" said Kelly.

Johanna Parker was also thanked for supplying artwork for the book.

The book is a Barriekneal Language Program initiative and was funded by the Australian Government's Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet Office for the Arts. Lightning Ridge Central School was also presented with a certificate for supporting the project and will receive a copy of the book.

The book will also be given to many families at the school and the school library.
